Neon Lettering and Figures on Gym Walls

Dumbbells with a slogan on the free-weights wall, a runner under a corridor ceiling, a Street Fit sign over the functional area. Indoors neon is both wayfinding and a backdrop for photos, so we bend it in flexible LED: it does not shatter and it does not mind the damp.

NO PAIN NO GAIN neon sign with dumbbells on a dark gym wall

In fitness clubs, neon almost always goes indoors. The reason is simple: a gym floor is a large dark space with black ceilings where an ordinary sign will not read, and the spotlights throw shadows of people on the machines.

Clubs mostly ask for three things. Zoning: a Street Fit sign over the functional area, or dumbbells with a slogan on the free-weights wall, is wayfinding without the plates. Figures: a runner under a corridor ceiling, a silhouette holding a plank on a timber wall, which put movement into a room where everything else stands still. And slogans, in the areas where people rest and take photographs.

We work in flexible LED neon. On a gym floor that matters: it does not shatter when a ball or a bar hits it, runs on low voltage, and copes with the humidity of changing rooms and pools. The line is bent over a template cut from acrylic to the outline of the sketch, so handwritten strokes stay handwritten and do not turn into a set of arcs.
