Lightbox for the LET’S MEAT Cafe

A printed translucent face in black: the name, knife icons and a halal mark on the right. On a dark face, any unevenness in the light shows at once.

Black LET’S MEAT cafe lightbox with red lettering and a halal mark above the entrance

The facade here is blank grey block, with no architectural detail to hang a sign from. In that situation a lightbox is easier to work with than separate letters: it becomes the horizontal line that organises the entrance.

The box was built to the full width of the door opening and a little beyond it. The face is a printed translucent sheet — black ground, red name, knife icons, halal mark on the right. The internal lighting is laid out so the black field glows evenly and shows no bright banding along the tubes. The perimeter profile is painted dark to match the face. By day the box reads as one solid black panel, and the frame never competes with the lettering.
